I was fortunate to live in the Deep South and catch Thisle and Shamrock when it first went National in the mid-80s. Mum is from Moss Park (Glasgow); she and her Scots family instilled a deep love and reverence for Celtic music. 'Thistle' replenished that love and introduced me to wonderfully varied gaelic-inspired folk music from around the world. The show is full of delightful and unexpected performances, thanks to Fiona's clever programming and comentary.
Where-ever I am, I also look for a local NPR station that carries the Thistle and Shamrock. Thanks, Fiona for more than twenty years of Celtic bliss.
